Individual Therapy
Individual therapy can offer a space to deepen your understanding of yourself and develop a relationship with what you feel and experience that is rooted in curiosity and compassion.
In our work together, we might notice where an emotion lives in your body, explore different parts of you that want or need different things, or stay with a feeling rather than immediately trying to change it. The goal isn’t to get rid of parts of yourself, but to meet yourself more fully and develop greater choice in how your respond.
I also believe nature can be a source of healing, offering meaningful reflections for our own lives. In nature, we encounter cycles of growth and rest, change and uncertainty, loss and renewal. When it feels meaningful, we may take our work outside, slowing down and paying attention to these rhythms as a way of connecting more deeply with your own experience. We may also incorporate movement, creativity, symbolism, imagery, or ritual when words alone don’t quite capture what you are feeling or trying to understand.
Individual therapy isn’t only about reducing what hurts. It can also be about discovering what helps you feel more connected to yourself, more able to trust your own knowing, and more fully alive in your life.
Couples Therapy
Relationships can bring us some of our greatest experiences of connection and belonging while also touching on some of our most tender places. The ways we learned to seek connection and protect ourselves when we feel hurt or disconnected often show up in our most intimate relationships.
In couples therapy, the focus is on what is happening between you, rather than identifying one person as the problem or deciding who is right or wrong. Each partner brings their own attachment history, needs, sensitivities, and protective responses. Together, we’ll explore how these interact and contribute to the cycle you find yourselves caught in.
We may slow an interaction down to notice what each of you is feeling, protecting, needing, or trying to communicate. This creates opportunities to practice greater openness, responsiveness, and attunement and discover new ways of connecting. Closeness doesn’t require either person to lose themselves; there can be room for two distinct people to remain themselves while staying connected.
My couples work draws from attachment and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), along with principles and practical tools from the Gottman Method. I have completed Gottman Method Level 1 training, which complements our work with communication, repair, friendship, intimacy, and connection.
